Technical Tour, Warm Welcome
On April 11, the guests and participants of the 8th St. Petersburg International
Energy Forum were invited on a technical tour around the Kirishsky oil
refinery. The guests were taken on an excursion around our refinery; they
visited the Palace of Culture, the Junost' hotel, supported a female water
polo team in one of the decisive matches of the Russian championship.
The technical tour also included a meeting with the CEO of the KINEF LLC
Vadim Evseevich Somov and the technical director Grigory Davydovich Zalishchevsky.
The participants of the Forum received exhaustive answers to their questions.
The guests were interested in almost everything, especially in a hydrogen
cracking system, which was under construction and the site of which the
guests also visited. A lot of questions were devoted to the future of
catalytic cracking and investment.
We have never had any problems with investors. All the arousing
problems are solved immediately and on a routine basis, Vadim Evseevich
said. I'm very careful with numbers. When there are talks about
high costs of construction of a new manufacture, if compared to other
plants, people tend to neglect the fact that we are constructing a new
plant on bogs, where we have to conduct soil excavation to the depth of
6 meters. Each company chooses its own strategy. Russian manufacturers
face lots of problems, for example, in terms of tax policy. There is a
need for tax concessions. There is a need for laws that favor development.
And this has to be approved on a governmental, on a state level.
When we are discussing long-term programs, we have to take it with all
the responsibility, considering the real-life environment. The construction
has to be preceded by 6 years of hard labor; this period is needed to
choose planners and granters of license. The constructive assemblage should
be preceded by stages of implementation engineering and the purchase of
equipment. For example, there is a huge waiting line for Japanese reactors.
We had to wait for two years. If we ordered those now, it would be much
more expensive and the delivery time would be much longer.
We choose the best technology. Life pushes us towards new decisions, towards
the elaboration of produce that would be competitive on the global market.
The CEO had a short answer to the question concerning the environment:
in terms of certain components of pollutants that are emitted into the
atmosphere, the margin till the maximum contamination level is 30%. And
the total amount of emissions in the last 10 years was reduced by factor
of 1.8.
The representative of the Naval Forces who was present at the meeting
thanked the refinery for its high-quality fuel; and a guest from Africa
wondered where one can purchase the produce of KINEF.
The social policies of your refinery can set an example for others.
How do you manage to make it so?, a question from the audience came.
Our main strategy is the successful performance of all installations,
all the refinery and also care for people, was the answer.
Social problems are not easy to solve, but they can be solved. Otherwise,
what's the aim of our living?...
We express our gratitude to the KINEF advertisement
and
information centre for the presented material.
