The 9th St. Petersburg International Energy Forum finished the work.
Final Press Release.
On March 25-27, 2009 in the pavilion 7 of the "Lenexpo"
Fairgrounds in Saint-Petersburg the 9th St. Petersburg International Energy
Forum was held, dedicated to development of the oil, gas and energy sector
under conditions of the economic crisis and during the post crisis period.
The Forum was opened with the Plenary session, where the following people
made reports: Chairman of the Research Council of the Russian Academy
of Sciences for geology and oil-gas field development problems, Chairman
of the Program Committee of the Forum, Academician A.E. Kontorovich, Head
of the Department of economy and finance of the Ministry of natural resources
and ecology of the Russian Federation G.V. Vygon, Deputy Head of the Committee
of the Federal Council for natural resourses and environment protection
A. I. Akulov, representative of the Russian Research Center "Kurchatov
Institute" S.A. Subbotin, Director General of "KINEF" OOO
V.E. Somov and President of the Norwegian oil company "StatoilHydro
ASA" Mr. Bengt Lie Hansen.
At the ceremony of the Official opening of the Forum which was held after
the Plenary session, Deputy Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian
Federation in the North- Western Federal district S.M. Zimin, Vice- Governor
of Saint Petersburg A.I. Sergeev made the speech of welcome, addressing
to the participants and guests.
The representatives of the diplomatic corps took part in the Forum, namely:
Consul General of Norway in Saint-Petersburg Mr. R. Aasheim, Consul General
of Turkey in Saint-Petersburg Mr. M. Cinar, Consul General of India Ms.
R. Lokesh, As well as representatives of trade missions of Poland, U.S.,
Germany, Finland, Italy to Saint-Petersburg.
The following issues were discussed at the conferences and round tables
within the framework of the Forum: innovative methods of exploration and
transportation of energy resources, investment projects in the field of
the oil, gas and energy sector, trends of the energy market development,
prospects of the offshore oil and gas development, providing security
and efficiency of the nuclear power engineering, issues of thermonuclear
and renewable energy.
Thus, on March 25, the two-day conference "Investments and Innovations
in the Oil, Gas and Energy sector" headed by the Academician A.E.
Kontorovich, and within the framework of the conference the specialized
round table was held on the issue of reproduction of mineral resources
and with the participation of the Chairman of the Committee of the Federal
Council for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection V. P. Orlov.
In the first day of the Forum the round table "Thermonuclear energy"
was also held under the support and with the participation of the Russian
Research Center " Kurchatov Institute".
The 10th Anniversary Conference "Russian oil-refining industry today"
became a significant section of the Forum, which is held on the initiative
and with the participation of "KINEF". The conference covered
the issues on the present state of the motor petrol production, applying
fuel dopes, development of new production technologies for motor fuel,
etc.
The press-briefing covering the issues on reproduction of mineral resources
of the oil, gas and energy sector and providing energy security in Russia
in the crisis and post crisis periods was held on March 26. The following
people answered the journalists' questions: Chairman of the Research Council
of the Russian Academy of Sciences for geology and oil-gas field development
problems, Chairman of the Program Committee of the Forum, Academician
A.E. Kontorovich, Head of the Department of economy and finance of the
Ministry of natural resources and ecology of the Russian Federation G.V.
Vygon, Chairman of the Committee of the Federal Council for Natural Resources
and Environmental Protection V. P. Orlov.
The round table "Becoming a Supplier for Offshore development challenges
and opportunities tribute to St.Petersburg industry" organized and
held for the first time on the initiative of the "StatoilHydro ASA"
company and under the support of the Government of Saint Petersburg became
a significant event within the Forum. The following people took part in
the discussion: President of the "StatoilHydro ASA" in Russia
Mr. Bengt Lie Hansen, representatives of the "Gazprom", "Aker
Solution" (Norway), United Metallurgical Company, "ENA",
"Russian Maritime Register of Shipping" Federal State Institution
companies and others. The memorandum of understanding concerning the cooperation
in the field of logistics and transport in Arctic was signed by the Murmansk
State Technical University, Arkhangelsk State Technical University, Baltic
State Technical University and Business School in Bode (Norway) at the
round table. The "StatoilHydro ASA" company is a sponsor of
the project.
Over 650 delegates took part in the Forum - from Russia, Germany, Norway,
Slovenia, Turkey, Finland and Ukraine - Heads of Ministries and Departments,
state administration bodies, top managers of the companies of the oil,
gas and energy complex, industrial companies, banks and investment funds,
representatives of research and development and design institutes, education
establishments. For the first time the delegation of Vietnam has taken
part in the Forum which included over 30 high-ranking officials of the
relevant ministries, as well as representatives of the "PetroVietnam",
"PetroVietnam Energy Corporation", "PetroVietnam Power
Corporation", "PetroVietnam Gas Corporation" and "Vietsovpetro"
companies.
Along with the Forum in the pavilion 7 of the "Lenexpo" Fairgrounds
six specialized exhibitions were opened: MIRR (Mineral and Energy Resources),
"Neftegasexpo", "Trans-tek-expo" (transportation of
energy resources), "Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industries",
"MPExpo - Power Plant Industry of Russia" (equipment and technologies
for generating, grid companies and retail energy suppliers), "Atomtech"
(Nuclear power engineering).
Despite of the unstable economic situation in the country and the whole
world, over 50 firms and companies from Russia, Germany, Vietnam, Turkey
took part in the exhibitions of the Forum. Among the participants there
was the Ministry of natural resources and ecology of the Russian Federation,
State nuclear power corporation "Rosatom", "Gazprom",
"Concern "Energoatom" Concern, "KINEF", "StatoilHydro
ASA", "Zarubezhneft", "PetroVietnam", "Vietsovpetro",
"TITAN-2", "Lenenergo", "TETRA Electic"
and many others. Total area of the exhibition venue was over 1,500 sq.m.
The registration statistics has shown that during three days over 4,500
specialists from all the regions of Russia and foreign countries visited
the exhibition. Over 100 specialized newspapers and web-portals in the
field of oil, energy, nuclear, transport industries rendered information
support to the Forum.
